Now in its sixth year, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (7th & 8th August 2009, Beauly, Inverness-shire) takes place in a beautiful setting in the Highlands of Scotland, centred on a natural arena provided by dramatic C19th terraced gardens. Around 12,500 people per day - including 2000 children under 12 - attend this two-day festival of music and performing arts which is famed for its warm welcome and the eclectic line-up featured over seven stages. Featured music covers a range of genres from Indie through to blues, roots, world, bluegress, country, Celtic and Celtic rock; unsigned artists have their own stage; and the festival also features theatre, burlesque, street theatre, comedy, debate, healing, workshops and a mass of kids' attractions including storytelling, craft, drama and puppet workshops. Most of the food and drink is high quality and locally sourced.Parking and camping are included in the prices of £80 for a weekend adult ticket and £50 for a Saturday ticket; children aged 12 & under come free. Belladrum has earned a strong reputation for its green policies which include using recycled rubish from the event in the creation of art. This year's event features a mountain biking challenge for the first time, and in recognition of 2009 being year of Scottish Homecoming, a stage dedicated to Robert Burns.
